Release date for Atlanta season 3 confirmed

New episodes will be available to stream on Disney+'s Star after its premiere in the US on 24th March.

US network FX has confirmed the release date for the long-awaited third season of Atlanta.

Donald Glover’s acclaimed comedy-drama will premiere its first two episodes in the US on 24th March and here in the UK on Disney+’s Star soon after.

This season will consist of ten half-an-hour episodes, one less than last time, with the remaining eight set to be broadcast weekly.

It’s set to take place across Europe as Alfred/Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) sets off on tour accompanied by his cousin and manager Earn (Glover), Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) and Earn’s on/off again girlfriend Van (Zazie Beetz).

It’s been three years since the second season of Atlanta aired in March 2018. Both seasons three and four were due to air this year but the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to production.

FX chairman John Landgraf explained that there was further uncertainty around season three’s release date due to Glover and co-director Hiro Murai’s busy schedules.

Atlanta was renewed for a fourth season in August 2019 which is currently in production with all of its scripts having been finished.

While there’s not yet an official trailer, a short and mysterious teaser was released at the start of November showing Alfred sat alone in what seems to be an incredibly ornate European hotel room.

You can stream the first two seasons of Atlanta on Disney+’s Star now.
