Netflix's Marvel shows headed to Disney+ this March

The licenses for these shows have now expired so they're moving back to Disney.

After leaving on 1st March, Netflix’s slate of Marvel series will find a new home on Disney+.

The platform has today confirmed that all seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher will be available to stream from 16th March.

These Marvel characters were licensed out for use to Netflix back in 2013 but now that’s come to end, all rights have reverted back to Disney.

This decision also forms part of Disney’s overall plan to consolidate all of its Marvel content together in one place.

Netflix’s Marvel shows explore the street level side of the MCU following the titular characters as they fight crime across New York City.

Daredevil starring Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer turned vigilante by night was the first to premiere in April 2015, followed by Jessica Jones in November which saw the super-strong PI (Krysten Ritter) battle against the mind controlling Kilgrave (David Tennant).

Luke Cage debuted in September 2016 with the bulletproof ex-con (Mike Coulter) taking on corruption in his beloved Harlem and Iron Fist was released in 2017 which sees powerful martial artist Danny Rand (Finn Jones) return to claim his father’s company.

Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) first appeared in Daredevil season 2 before receiving his own spinoff in 2017 and that same year, The Defenders saw all four of the original heroes team up Avengers-style to defeat the mysterious Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver).

With the exception of Iron Fist which was derided by fans and critics alike, they mostly received positive reviews. Although all were criticised for their pacing and being too long.

The reverting of the licences back to Disney also now means that these characters are able to appear in other Marvel content, as seen with Cox reprising his role in last year’s Spiderman: No Way Home
