Sky releases first trailer for Joe vs Carole

Two years on from the release of Tiger King, this scripted series will take another look at the pair's infamous rivalry.

The scripted Tiger King drama Joe vs Carole now has its first trailer.

The eight-episode series will serve as an adaptation of the hit Wondery podcast Joe Exotic: Tiger King which was hosted by American writer Robert Moor.

It’ll once again explore the fierce rivalry between flamboyant private zoo owner Joe Exotic (John Cameron Mitchell) and big cat sanctuary owner Carole Baskins (Kate McKinnon).

This famously ended in the former being convicted of hiring a hitman to kill Baskins and receiving a 22-year prison sentence which he’s currently serving in Fort Worth, Texas.

Twin Peaks’ Kyle MacLachlan will play Baskins’ second husband Howard whilst Dean Winters will play investor Jeff Lowe. Sam Keeley and Nat Wolff will play Exotic’s husbands John Finley and Travis Maldonado who he married in a three-way ceremony in 2014.

Brain Van Holt, Marlo Kelly, David Wenham and Willam Fichtner are also set to star.

All episodes of the show were written by Etan Frankel who also serves as showrunner. Directing duties were shared out between Justin Tipping and Natalie Bailey.

Amazon was initially working on a rival Tiger King series, which was set to star Nicholas Cage as Exotic, but that was officially shelved in July 2021.

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy is also reportedly working on a Tiger King adaptation with Rob Lowe set to take on the role of Exotic.

All eight episodes of Joe vs Carole will be available to stream on Peacock, which is available for free to those with Sky TV or the NOW Entertainment Membership, from March 4th.
