The Righteous Gemstones renewed for season 3

HBO's hit comedy series follows the Gemstone family of corrupt televangelists.

HBO has renewed its black comedy series The Righteous Gemstones for season 3.

This announcement comes just a few weeks after its second season premiered in the US on Sunday 9th January 2022.

Created by Danny McBride, the show follows the titular family of televangelists who use all of the donations to their megachurches to fund their lavish lifestyles.

John Goodman, McBride, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, Tony Cavalero, Cassidy Freeman, Skyler Gisondo, Walter Goggins, Gregory Alan Williams, Tim Baltz and Dermot Mulroney all star.

While virtually nothing is known about this upcoming third outing, it’s expected that all of the main cast will return.

“After a season of literal fire and brimstone, blood, sand and rollerblading, who wouldn’t come back for more?” said Amy Gravitt, HBO’s executive vice president of programming. “The Gemstone family makes us laugh like nobody else.”

Season 2 of The Righteous Gemstones will arrive here in the UK on Thursday 3rd February on both Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Directing duties were shared out amongst McBride, Jody Hill and David Gordon Green who previously all collaborated on HBO’s Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals

The first season of The Righteous Gemstones is available to stream with both NOW and Sky TV
