Weekly trailer roundup 24/10
The biggest, most exciting new movie and TV trailers this week.
We live in a golden age of entertainment, with great new movies and TV shows being released all the time. There’s so much, in fact, that it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming, and what to get excited about.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the biggest and best trailers released this week. And it’s another strong showing for spooky season, featuring everything from space witches to monstrous superheroes to werewolves. Lots and lots of werewolves.

In cinemas 17th January
Following 2020’s excellent reimagining of The Invisible Man, director Leigh Whannell returns to tackle another old-school Universal Monster. This time it’s the Wolf Man, very much in need of revitalisation after the so-so 2010 version starring Benicio Del Toro.
This time we’re following young mother Charlotte (Julia Garner, Ozark), who must fight to save herself and her daughter (Matilda Firth) when her husband (Christopher Abbott, Possessor) is scratched by a mysterious beast in the woods.
Between this, which already looks great, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride, 2025 is shaping up to be a very good year for the classic monsters.

In cinemas December
Don’t you just hate it when a trailer gives away the whole plot of a movie?
Well, this cryptic little teaser certainly doesn’t have that problem. But what it lacks in story, it definitely makes up for in vibes.
This is the history of a fictional Hungarian architect (Adrien Brody, The Pianist), who survives the Holocaust and moves to the States in pursuit of the American Dream. It got some serious critical buzz at the Venice Film Festival and will likely be a heavyweight contender in next year’s Academy Awards, so definitely one to keep an eye on.
Also stars Felicity Jones (On the Basis of Sex) and Guy Pearce (Prometheus).
Love Hurts

In cinemas 7th February
Just in time for Valentine’s Day comes this high-energy action comedy starring the irrepressibly charming Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Quan is your typical mild-mannered realtor with some epic martial arts skills and a bloody past - a past that, of course, comes back to haunt him.
This looks like it’ll be very much in the vein of other 87North productions like Nobody and Atomic Blonde, but it’s always nice to see Quan on screen. Plus, this promises a low-key Goonies reunion with the addition of Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings).
Also stars Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) and Marshawn Lynch (Bottoms).
Ash

In cinemas 2025
It’s a bit hard to know what to make of this one. It’s a trippy cosmic horror, starring Eiza Gonzales (3 Body Problem), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Iko Uwais (The Raid), directed by avant garde musician Flying Lotus.
Will it be weird? Absolutely. Will it be good? Maybe! At the very least it should be an interesting watch.
Werewolves

In cinemas 6th December
It’s basically The Purge, but with werewolves. And Frank Grillo’s in it. I mean, what else do you need to know?
TV Shows
Dune: Prophecy

Season 1 on Sky Atlantic 17th November
A prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster sci-fi epics, this series tells the story of the rise of the Bene Gesserit - the order of mysterious witches who influence galactic civilisations from behind the scenes. It also promises to chart the origins of the prophecy that will give Paul Atreides so much trouble in the future.
But don’t expect Timothy Chalamet’s Paul to show up in any of the episodes - Prophecy is set about 10,000 years before the events of the films.
Will it end up being the next HBO megahit - Game of Thrones in space - or an inessential footnote to the massively successful Dune movies? We’ll find out when it hits our screens very soon.
Stars Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Olivia Williams (The Crown), Travis Fimmel (Vikings) and Mark Strong (The Penguin).
Creature Commandos

Season 1 on Max 5th December (no UK streaming date yet)
A new animated series from James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), based on the somewhat obscure DC comic characters. Essentially this is the Suicide Squad with monsters, including the likes of Frankenstein, The Bride, GI Robot and Nina Mazursky - a fish woman akin to the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
The show looks fun, but perhaps the most interesting thing about Creature Commandos is that it marks the official start of Gunn’s new, rebooted DC cinematic universe - which will finally come to theatres in next summer’s Superman.
It also packs a starry cast, including David Harbour (Stranger Things), Alan Tudyk (Firefly), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) and Viola Davis (The Suicide Squad).
Severance

Season 2 on Apple TV+ 17th January
Following Season 1’s incredible cliffhanger finale - way back in early 2022 - Severance is FINALLY returning next year. Time for a waffle party!
A workplace comedy thriller with a sci-fi twist, Severance follows the lives of several workers at a mysterious biotechnology company, each of which have undergone a procedure to separate their work memories from their everyday lives. It’s pitched as the ultimate work/life balance but, as we saw in the first season, the procedure has a dark side.
This is easily one of the best shows on Apple TV+, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Stars Adam Scott (Parks & Recreation), Britt Lower (Man Seeking Woman) and John Turturro (Transformers).
Interior Chinatown

Season 1 on Disney+ 19th November
Created by Charles Yu, based on his novel of the same name, this action comedy series follows down-on-his-luck waiter Willis Wu (Jimmy O Yang, Silicon Valley) as he becomes embroiled in a fight against the criminal underworld of Chinatown.
There’s an added meta layer here, as Willis is actually a background character in a fictional police procedural called Black & White, and slowly finds himself drawn into the spotlight. It’s a fun concept, and there’s some great comedic talent behind the camera - including producer/director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows).
Also stars Chloe Bennett (Agents of SHIELD) and Ronny Chieng (Crazy Rich Asians).
