August marks the return of English football, with the Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership all back in action on Sky Sports. 

Alongside the new football season, you can also enjoy Formula 1, cricket, golf and much more, making it another packed month of world-class sport. 

Here's everything you can watch on Sky Sports this August.

Football on Sky Sports

The World Cup was a brilliant month of high-level competition, but now it’s over and we’re in the grey zone with no football.

Fortunately, it won’t last for much longer as the domestic leagues will be getting underway very shortly into August!

The EFL and Scottish Premiership will get things going first before the new Premier League campaign kicks off later in the month.

Wolves vs Blackburn Rovers | Friday 14th at 8pm | Sky Sports Main Event & Football

Kicking off the EFL campaign will be newly relegated Wolves vs Blackburn in the championship. This could certainly be an interesting watch as it could see a surprise sprung for the recently demoted Wolves, a worthy welcome to the Championship.

Arsenal vs Coventry City | Friday 21st at 8pm | Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League

As per customs, the new Premier League campaign will be opened up by the reigning champions versus one of the newly promoted sides, and this time we’re in for a treat as Arsenal will be facing a challenge in Championship champions Coventry City.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth | Sunday 23rd at 2pm | Sky Sports Main Event

Bournemouth were one of the biggest surprise stories from last season so they deserve a shoutout, especially when they play Man City. Both will be under new management for the season so it could be an interesting affair.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool | Sunday 23rd at 4:30pm | Sky Sports Main Event

Another two sides who will be helmed by a new face. Newcastle had a woefully disappointing 2025/26 campaign, while Liverpool also fell short of their league-winning high from the year before. 

This new season will be a chance for both to get back to where they want to be, and this early heavyweight contest could be what either side needs.

Formula 1 on Sky Sports

The F1 calendar has hit the mid-season summer break, giving the drivers and teams some time away before the thrilling second half of the campaign.

Unfortunately for fans, that means no racing until the end of the month.

Dutch Grand Prix | Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd | Sky Sports F1 HD

The first race back from the break will be the final time the grid goes to the Netherlands as the much-loved Zandvoort circuit will be exiting the rotation following this season.

This means one last run around the fast-paced rollercoaster track in the dunes. Home nation hero Max Verstappen seems to be finding his pace with a rapidly improving Red Bull. Will he be able to provide one last time in front of his adoring Oranje army?

Cricket on Sky Sports

The Hundred | Tuesday 21st July - Sunday 16th August | Sky Sports Main Event, Cricket & Mix

The 2026 edition of The Hundred has been providing the lightning action it always does, with proceedings for both the Men’s and the Women’s competitions coming to an end later this month.

England vs Pakistan Test series | Wednesday 18th August - Sunday 13th September | Sky Sports Cricket

Pakistan will be making a visit to the UK for a three-match Test series which will form part of the ICC World Test Championship.

Both sides are towards the bottom of the World Test Championship table so they’ll be hoping for a positive result.

• First Test - Wednesday 19th - Sunday 23rd August | Headingley, Leeds
• Second Test - Thursday 27th - Monday 31st August | Lord’s, London
• Third Test -  Wednesday 9th - Sunday 13th September | Edgbaston, Birmingham

Golf on Sky Sports

It feels like only yesterday Rory was winning his second consecutive green jacket yet here we are, staring at the end of another PGA Tour season.

August marks the start and end of the FedEx Playoffs; however, there will still be action from the LPGA Tour and DP World Tour running until the end of the year.

FedEx Playoffs St. Jude Championship | Thursday 13th - Sunday 16th | Sky Sports Main Event & Golf

The first of the three FedEx Playoff events comes from TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. Only the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings make it through to the Tour Championship finale, so every player outside that will be aiming for victory here and the following weekend.

FedEx Playoffs BMW Championship | Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd | Sky Sports Main Event, Golf & Sky Sports+

After Memphis the field heads to the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri for the second and final chance to make the cut for the 30-field season finale Tour Championship.

FedEx Playoffs Tour Championship | Thursday 27th - Sunday 30th | Sky Sports Main Event & Golf

All four majors, the Signature events, Flagship events and all others in between, have been leading up to the Tour Championship.

The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings will be gunning for the most lucrative prize in all of golf, with the lion's share of the $40m prize pot coming their way.

Tennis on Sky Sports

August will bring the final Grand Slam of the year, marking the final stretch until the ATP and WTA Tours end for another season. But before we get there, there’s a few Masters events to get through.

ATP & WTA Canadian Open | Sunday 2nd - Wednesday 12th | Sky Sports Main Event, Tennis & Sky Sports+

The Canadian Open is the second oldest tennis competition in the world, only bested by Wimbledon. 

As usual, the tournament is split into two cities, with the men’s event taking place in Montreal while the women’s comes from Toronto. Both are mandatory 1000 events, making them a must-see as you’ll find some great action throughout. 

ATP & WTA Cincinnati Open | Thursday 13th - Sunday 23rd | Sky Sports Main Event, Tennis & Sky Sports+

The Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati, Ohio will be ready to host another thrilling contest as the men’s and women’s tours come to town. Another 1000 event means the best of the best will be competing, hopefully including last year’s champion Carlos Alcaraz, who missed both Roland-Garros and Wimbledon this summer already.
