The Expendables brought life back into the action movie genre, bringing together a star-studded cast to produce a masterclass in action that heralds back to its glory days of the 80s and early 90s.

It was nothing smart, it didn’t try to reinvent the genre, instead essentially going back to its roots and putting pure mayhem over everything. And it was brilliant for it.

Success from the first was followed by another two movies, and we’ve even got one more coming out very soon.

Expend4bles | The fourth of the series

The fourth film of the series brings back many of the beloved characters from the first three films, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren.

Not only that, new characters will also be brought into the franchise. Megan Fox will be assuming the role of Statham’s girlfriend (in the film, Rosie Huntington-Whitely still has his heart IRL), and Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson will finally be assuming a role after turning one down in the first film.

Expend4bles will act as a passing of the torch, as Stallone previously announced it would be his last of the series. Statham will be taking over as the leader of the team going forward, as his character has been the right-hand man of Stallone's throughout the series.

The latest film will be coming to cinemas in the UK this week on 22nd September. 

How to watch The Expendables films
