The semi-finals are now complete and the two winners have earned their place in this year's final. The fixture will see the mighty 14-time champions Real Madrid up against the underdog one-time champions Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund secured their spot first with a 2-0 aggregate win over PSG. After taking a 1-0 win at home in the first leg, they needed some luck in the second leg - and that’s exactly what they got.

PSG hounded the German side for practically the full 90 minutes but could not get the ball past Gregor Kobel, and when they did, the ball would strike the woodwork and bounce away.

One counter, a corner and a brilliant header from Mats Hummels gave Dortmund a safe lead that the home side were unable to overcome, leading to a surprising yet celebrated victory for Die Schwarzgelben.

In the other semi-final was an instant classic between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, both legs providing outstanding entertainment albeit incredibly nervy for the teams’ fans.

It was 2-2 in the first leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich, a game of back-and-forth action. The second leg in the new Estadio Santiago Bernabeu was electric, the buzz from the crowd unmatched.

Bayern struck first in the 68th minute and looked like they could hold on. A disallowed goal for Real seemed to be the best they could fathom until an unlikely hero in former Stoke City striker Joselu was brought on, scoring two quick goals in the 88th and 91st minute to secure the victory for Los Blancos.
