Game changers: The Sky Broadband Women’s Esports Finals
47 women, changing the game.
The gaming industry is the most dominant entertainment industry out there - bigger than film, television and music combined. In the UK alone in 2023 it was worth £7.82 billion.
In terms of the overal player base, it is almost an even split between males and females, with 47% of UK gamers being women. However, when you look into the professional gaming space, it changes to be very male-dominated, with only 5% of women gamers reaching professional status.
That’s where the Sky Broadband Women’s Esports Finals come in. Powered by Sky Full Fibre and in partnership with Guild Gaming, this premier event is designed to celebrate and showcase women’s gaming achievements.
This high-profile tournament is a culmination of the Racers and Football Eseries, which previously kicked off in April.
The Racers Eseries took place in April and May, with competitors battling it out online and in person in SIM racing-based competition, with the spots up for grabs in the Esports Finals.
As for the Football Eseries, one tournament has already been played and another will be contested during the finals this Saturday.
47 women will be part of the first-of-its-kind groundbreaking event at the Sky headquarters in London, all in with a chance of winning a Pro contract with Guild Esports as well as free Sky Broadband for 24 months.
