Festive football fixtures: Premier League action this Christmas
Fixture congestion? Nothing but a Premier League Christmas tradition!
While other European leagues are nearing their winter break, December is when the Premier League throws games at us!
Over the final month of 2024 and the first month of 2025, there will be a ludicrous 100 fixtures between 3rd December to 26th January. That’s Premier League games only, nevermind EFL Cup, FA Cup and continental competition games that are going on too.
It’s a whole lot of football coming our way, but while it may be grueling for the players, we sure can’t wait for another exciting and manic festive period of Premier League football!

Christmas crackers: Highlight fixtures
Amongst all these games, there are a few matches that need to be picked out as must-watch affairs.
Be it a six-pointer between two teams vying for the same spot or a simple derby match, here are our picks for the festive periods’ best games.
Everton vs Liverpool, Saturday 7th December
While not a monumental game as the two sides are currently separated by 20 points in the league, this Merseyside Derby will be special as it is to be the final one played at Goodison Park (scheduled for the Premier League, that is. Can’t say they won’t be drawn against one another in a round of the FA Cup).
The Toffees will be moving into their new stadium at the end of this year, so expect some emotions from this game - and maybe even a good contest because of that fact.
Tottenham vs Chelsea, Sunday 8th December
Liverpool may be running away with the title at the moment, but the fight for the remaining three spots in the top four couldn’t be any tighter.
Only five points separates Man City in second and Newcastle in 10th. Within that range, you’ll find the London pair of Spurs and Chelsea, who will go head-to-head early in December with bragging rights and a strong hold on a top four spot up for grabs. It may be early, but it always helps to beat a rival.
Manchester City vs Manchester United, Sunday 15th December
One of the most famous rivalries in the world, the Manchester Derby is always an occasion when it comes around,
This year could be a rather interesting affair, depending on if each side can start finding their best form once again. United under new manager Ruben Amorim has a lot to prove, can they have themselves sorted and ready to take on their mighty neighbours in sky blue?
Arsenal vs Tottenham, Wednesday 15th January
Another fierce rivalry, the North London Derby comes with incredible bragging rights, and with both sides fairly close in the table, neither will want to take the loss.
Mikel Arteta already has one tactical battle victory over Ange Postecoglou, the pairs contrasting playing styles seeing the Gunners come away with a 1-0 early in the season. Will Spurs get their revenge at the Emirates?
Manchester City vs Chelsea, Saturday 25th January
Man City and Chelsea are seemingly incapable of putting on a bad showing, so expect sparks to fly in this matchup.
Where to watch
Many of the fixtures above will be shown live, although they won’t all be on the same channel.
Unfortunately, as standard any 3pm games on a Saturday will not be shown, and you’ll find that if there is more than one game at the same time on a Sunday on Sky Sports, only one of them will be shown. But other than that, everything will be available to watch!
As usual, TNT Sports will be showing the early kick-offs (12:30pm on Saturdays) while Sky Sports has the late ones (5:30pm on Saturdays), as well as Super Sundays.
There will also be some rare later Saturday games which TNT Sports has the rights to, as is the unique 10 games of Matchday 21, which will all be live on TNT Sports.
And of course, the festive period is when Amazon Prime Video returns to host some fixtures. They will have two lots of full matchday coverage, providing live viewing for all the games on Matchday 14 (3rd - 5th December) and 18 (26th & 27th December).
