Avatar 2 coming in late 2022
It'll come after remastered original Avatar releases in cinemas.
Avatar 2 has finally been given its official title of Avatar: The Way of Water, and will hit cinemas on 16th December 2022.
It was also announced that the first Avatar, which first appeared in cinemas all the way back in 2009, will have a remastered version released in cinemas this September.
Jon Landau, Avatar's producer, announced that each movie in the franchise will revolve Jake and Neytiri's family, and while each film will be a standalone story, all of them will be connected to tell an even bigger story.
It'll come as no surprise to fans of both the Avatar franchise and James Cameron when the director teased him and his team "set out once again to push the limits of what cinema can do." The official Avatar: The Way of Water trailer will debut exclusively in cinemas with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on 6th May, and will release for all to see online one week later!
Set 10 years after the original film, the movie description online reads: "Jake Sully and Ney'tiri have formed a family and are doing everything to stay together. However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must fight a difficult war against the humans."
13 years after the first Avatar movie came to our screens in 2009, the end of 2022 will finally see in the next instalment in James Cameron's epic adventure.
