Lewis Hamilton (finally) re-signs with Mercedes

The 7-time World Champion is sticking around for another two years.

The contract saga between Lewis Hamilton and his current team Mercedes has finally come to an end with the British champion re-signing to stick with the team.

With Mercedes not being the team to beat anymore, many thought the sport's most successful driver would move on from the team or even retire.

Those thoughts have now been dispelled with him signing on for a further two years with the German team, keeping Hamilton with Merc until the end of the 2025 season.

He will be joined by his current teammate George Russell, who has also signed an extension to stay on for two more years.

This extension will take the drivers up to just before the start of the new era for the sport which will reintroduce an emphasis on engine power, with new engine regulations coming in to shake up the sport once again.

Whether the then 40-year-old Hamilton will want to stay on and challenge in the new era will be a question for the duration of the 2025 season, so we will have to wait and see until then.
