Michael Keaton's Batman to return in The Flash

The Flash had its new trailer revealed on the day of the Super Bowl, and DC fans around the world revelled in seeing Michael Keaton returning as Batman in some kind of alternate universe. 

Michael Shannon will return as Superman's arch nemesis General Zod and Ben Affleck will also reprise his role as Batman, too.

The Flash sees Barry Allen travel back in time to save his family, but ends up getting trapped in another version of reality where General Zod has returned and there are no metahumans to fight him.

Cue Keaton's Batman, with Barry's only hope is to coax him out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian – Supergirl (Sasha Calle). 

DC boss James Gunn has said The Flash will essentially reboot the DC Universe, allowing other more successful movies to be born from its ashes. 

The Flash will be released in cinemas on 16th June 2023.
