Money Heist spinoff series in development at Netflix

Netflix has greenlit a spinoff to the critically-acclaimed Spanish thriller Money Heist. 

Titled Berlin, it will revolve around the fan-favourite jewel thief character of the same name (played by Pedro Alonso). 

Having played a central role in the first two seasons as The Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) second-in-command during the Royal Mint of Spain heist, he allowed himself to get gunned down by police so the gang could escape. 

Given this, it’s assumed that Berlin will be a prequel revolving around events that occurred before the start of the show.

“I am deeply grateful to be able to connect with people all over the world and receive so much love and such a memorable time,” said Alonso during an interview with TVLine.

“We started this series walking into the unknown and we have been winning ever since. You fans are our accomplices and thank you for that."

Money Heist is currently in the midst of airing its fifth and final season which has been split into two parts. The second part, which consists of 4 more episodes, will be available to stream from 3rd December 2021.
