Netflix sets release date for Cobra Kai season 4

The unlikely sounding series has proved a huge hit for the streaming giant.

A new teaser has revealed the release date for the upcoming fourth season of Cobra Kai

The show’s official Twitter account posted the short clip which revealed that this new outing will arrive on the platform in December 2021.

It doesn’t give anything away in terms of specific plot details, featuring Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and their young protégés training, but sets the stage for season 4’s central event the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament.

As seen in the season 3 finale, former rivals La Russo and Lawrence have merged their two dojos, Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, together in the hope of defeating John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Cobra Kai.

“The fate of the Valley has never been more precarious,” reads the streaming giant’s official plot synopsis.

“What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?”

Main cast members Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Vanessa Rubio and Peyton List are all set to return.

Thomas Ian Griffith is also set to reprise his role as Kreese’s old war buddy Terry Silver for this fourth season, 32 years after La Russo defeated his student Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) in Karate Kid III.

"We have never been prouder of a season that we've put in the can," said co-creator Josh Heald in a recent interview with Deadline. "We've seen it and we know we've got the goods.”

"We cannot wait for the fans of this franchise to see everything we did this season knowing everything we went through to put that into place. It's an amazing memory we'll all have knowing that it was a battle and we won."

You can stream all three seasons of Cobra Kai on Netflix now.
