Sky Q Apps
The brilliant Sky Q box brings plenty of great entertainment together allowing you to access popular apps like Netflix, YouTube and Disney+.
How do I download apps on Sky Q?
There’s actually no need to download any apps on your Sky Q box, and when a new app is available, it should automatically download and appear alongside your other apps.
All models of the Sky Q box come with the available apps like Netflix, YouTube and BBC iPlayer automatically installed. You can learn more about this in our article, How to download apps on Sky Q.
What is Sky Q?
Sky Q combines the best of television all in one deal. Gain access to all of Sky’s exclusive channels such as Sky Atlantic, alongside thousands of television series and movies through an included Netflix subscription, which can be integrated into Sky Q if you are already a member.
Along with Sky’s channels and Netflix, Sky Go is included as standard, allowing you to download the app and watch Sky from your mobile, tablet and PC, meaning you never have to miss any of the action ever again.
The Sky Q box replaces the traditional Sky+ we grew to know and love, and allows you to store up to 500 hours of television, record up to 6 shows while watching a 7th, and to pause, rewind and even restart live TV.
The Sky Q Mini Box
The Sky Q Mini Box connects to your main Sky Q box (through either WiFi or a powerline), and is needed if you want to watch Sky content in other rooms around your house. It will act as a bridge between your main Sky Q box and the room you want to watch Sky content in, ensuring a stable connection between the two.
This also allows the Sky Q Mini Box to act as a WiFi extender, which is like adding an extra hotspot in your home. But, as you probably guessed, this only works if you have Sky Broadband and the Sky Q Hub router.
The Sky Q remote
Unlike most television boxes and their remotes, the Sky Q remote does not need to be in direct line of sight with its Sky Q box thanks to Bluetooth technology, meaning you can hide your Sky Q box out of sight if you so wish.
There is also an in-built microphone, allowing you to harness Sky Q’s voice functionality, meaning you no longer have to type your favourite content into the search bar when you're looking for something to watch.
Customise your Sky Q deal
Alongside Sky Q’s default inclusions, you can choose to customise your Sky Q deal by adding extras. See the list below:
- Sky Sports - Catch all the live action exclusive to Sky Sport
- BT Sport - Watch BT Sport 1, 2, 3 and BT Sport ESPN
- Sky Cinema - Have over 1,000 of the most popular movies on demand
- HD - Watch Sky’s live channels in HD, and watch Netflix on 2 devices with the Ultimate TV add on
You also have the option to add Disney+, Kids, Multiscreen and Ultra HD.
Is there a Sky Q app?
There was, but it no longer exists. You can watch all the Sky content you’re subscribed to using the Sky Go app, which is available on all your devices.
Where do I find the apps on my Sky Q box?
On your main Sky Q homepage there will be a list of headings on the left side of the screen. Scroll down through that until you reach Apps where you’ll be able to access them all.

Can I subscribe to these apps through my Sky TV deal?

You’ll also get recommendations for what to watch on Netflix and Sky side-by-side and be able to dive back into what you’re currently binging without having to open up the Netflix app.
