How to watch 2025 Six Nations: UK TV, fixtures & more

Will Ireland reign supreme once more?

As the biggest rugby competition exclusive to the Northern Hemisphere, the Six Nations is a major deal every year - and a good chance for some bragging rights.

The 131st edition of the competition this year provides Ireland, the current holders, the chance to make history, with an outright championship victory making them the only team to ever win three consecutive tournaments outright.

With the first match ready to kickoff this Friday, find out how to watch the 2025 Six Nations on UK TV, plus more information you’ll want to know.

How to watch 2025 Six Nations

The Six Nations has been on free-to-air TV in the UK for some time, although whether that will remain the case in the long-term is still yet to be seen.

Thankfully, nothing will be changing this year as all 15 games of the competition will be shown live, with coverage shared between BBC and ITV.

2025 Six Nations on BBC

The BBC will be the host of Scotland’s and Wales’ home fixtures, meaning they will have five games in total.

Each game will be live to watch on either BBC One or BBC Two on TV, or you can tune in via the BBC iPlayer, which can be accessed online or via the app on various devices.

In addition to the live games, you can also catch-up on the weekend of action in case you missed anything with the Six Nations Rugby Special hosted by legend Ugo Monye, providing highlights and in-depth analysis of each game from the round.

You can also keep up with the action with any game on ITV via BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds.

2025 Six Nations on ITV

ITV will have the home fixtures for England, Ireland, France and Italy, with the remaining 10 fixtures set to be shown on ITV, with each game available live on the ITV1 channel, plus on their streaming platform ITVX.

2024 Six Nations: How it went

The 2024 Six Nations marked a major milestone for the competition, being the 130th edition of the tournament (including all previous incarnations) and the 25th edition of the Six Nations as it is known now.

Ireland claimed their 16th title and second consecutive, although were unable to replicate their Grand Slam feat from the year prior, losing to England by a singular point in round four.

Wales were the recipient of the undesired Wooden Spoon, having been whitewashed by losing all five games. This was just the second time they had achieved such a feat in the Six Nations era, the first instance coming back in 2003.

Italy’s Tommaso Menoncello took home the Player of the Tournament honour, winning over England’s Ben Earl, Ireland’s Bundee Aki and Scotland’s Duhan van der Merwe.

Six Nations: Winners

As mentioned, Ireland are the current holders and will be aiming for an unprecedented outright three-peat. Other sides have won three years in a row in previous incarnations, although one of those years was shared with another nation.

As well as the tournament victory and Grand Slam accolade, there are trophies awarded for some of the individual matches, plus the Triple Crown.

Triple Crown

Not awarded in 2024.

Calcutta Cup

Contested between England and Scotland and is the only individual award that is as old as the competition itself. Scotland retained in 2024 for the fourth consecutive year.

Millennium Trophy
